The Noosa Longweekend Festival 2012
Program Launched!
A new era begins...
As we celebrate a new decade of The Noosa Longweekend (now in its eleventh year), we’ve created an extra special 2012 program for you to enjoy.
Yes, you will still find the world class standard of festival events that our audiences have come to expect, and sprinkled throughout our program pages you will also find a few events which may be considered cutting edge or perhaps even a little risqué. With this new decade upon us we trust you will enjoy these new offerings.
As a multi-genre Arts Festival, it is vital that we continue to stimulate, titillate and invigorate the creative palate. This year’s program offers something for all tastes, all age groups and budgets.
Sincere thanks to the Production Subcommittee for their invaluable contributions towards developing this year’s program, Kristin Williamson and Keith Moore for an outstanding literature program, Rowland Hill for a compelling and topical forum program and Petra Frieser and Anne Marshall for a scrumptious array of food events. Special thanks also to Karen Mitchell (Honorary Accountant) for her wonderful support, Amanda Powell (Festival Co-Ordinator) and Trena-Louise Lyons (National Publicist) for their dedication and commitment. Thanks also to our festival president, Simon Gamble and members of the 2012 Management Committee for their support and contributions across many varied areas.
Finally, heartfelt thanks to our wonderful sponsors, friends and patrons along with the army of volunteers, who make such a significant contribution toward making our annual event such a resounding success. I trust you will enjoy our 2012 festival program. We look forward to you joining us as we celebrate the 10 glorious daysin June that is The Noosa Longweekend Festival 2012.

Nurturing Our Younger and Older Generations
The Noosa Longweekend Festival in Association with the Queensland Youth Orchestra 2 (QYO2), is delighted to present two educational concert performances as part of this year’s festival. These specially designed concerts create a wonderful opportunity for primary and high school students, together with members of our senior community to experience an 80+ member strong youth orchestra right on our doorstep (and for only the cost of a gold coin donation). Invitations were extended to over 700 people who will attend these two performances at Bicentennial Hall on Friday 22nd June. Creating opportunities such as these continue to be foremost in our vision, and our thanks to Queensland Youth Orchestra 2 in supporting the festival and this community initiative.
