Five champions of music challenged
Are you a Beethoven, Beatles or a blues person? Maybe Britney’s your style? Maybe the great jazz legends do it for you?
To sort out which music turns us on and why, revered journalist and broadcaster Geraldine Doogue challenges five champions of music to a battle of the sounds. Australia’s Jazz superstar, the inexhaustible, multi-instrumentalist, James Morrison. Composer, genius of improvisation and all styles of Jazz. He has played and recorded with groups from trios to symphony orchestras, performed in all major Jazz festivals and with all the greats.
Sam Cutler - tour manager of the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead, in the glory days of rock ’n’ roll. He owned the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, promoted across different continents and plays acoustic guitar.
Rick Grossman - 30 years in the Rock industry, a string of albums, two inductions into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, former bass player with the Divinyls and currently the Hoodoo Gurus. Classically trained, Rick now mentors young musicians.
Richard Evans’ brilliant ascension through the galaxy of Australian arts management put him at the helm of flagship companies including The Australian Ballet. Now Sydney Opera House CEO, he has lent his ear to all manner of sounds.
Soprano, opera educator and voice teacher, Victoria Watson was an ensemble and principal artist with the Victoria State Opera.
