Janet De Neefe Trios
A Balinese affair
A Balinese affair When Janet De Neefe stepped off the plane in Bali in 1984, she felt an immediate connection to this island paradise. Curious though she was about Bali culture, its warm people and mouthwatering cuisine, she didn’t expect to fall in love and make a new life there.
More than twenty years later, Janet – originally from Melbourne - and her husband Ketut have four children and run two of the most successful restaurants in Bali. Casa Luna is famous not only for being the first restaurant to fuse Balinese and Western food but because of Janet’s cooking school, which attracts visitors from all around the world. She is also author of a memoir /cookbook Fragrant Rice.
In response to the 2002 Bali bombings, she created the international Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. It was recently named by Harper’s Bazaar, UK as “one of the top Festivals in the world” and by ABC’s Asia-Pacific network as “the next Edinburgh Festival of Asia”.
Join Janet De Neefe for a mouth-watering Balinese lunch prepared with her guidance and hear about her work, her life and her love affair with Bali.
