Kristin Williamson
Raising the curtain
David Williamson is without question one of Australia’s most significant and celebrated cultural figures. His many plays, from Don’s Party to Emerald City, have been the mirror to which many Australians have turned to see themselves reflected.
Williamson’s life has been as engaging and interesting as his art. For thirty-five years he has been at the collision point of art and politics.
Who better to invite us into that life than the woman with whom he has shared it, his wife of 35 years, Kristin? Kristin Williamson is a journalist and author with a background in theatre, education and history. Her books include the novels Tanglewood, The Jacaranda Years, Treading on Dreams and Women on the Rocks. David Williamson: Behind the Scenes is an ultimate portrait of her husband - the man whose plays have so defined this time and this country. She is a co-founder and backbone of the fabulous Noosa Longweekend festival.
Talking to creator of the international Ubud Writers Festival Janet De Neefe, both Kristin and David will take you on a luminous life journey, through the world of film and stage of one of Australia’s living legends.
