Young Artists Recital
A wonderful opportunity to experience the cream of Australia’s emerging operatic talents. Join former Dame Joan Sutherland Award recipient, tenor Virgilio Marino together with some of the sensational young singers from this years Young Artist Program.
For more than a decade the Young Artist Program at Opera Queensland has been grooming some of the finest Australian voices singing in opera houses around Australia and the world. Some of the sensational young singers from this year’s program will present a recital of songs and arias from opera and music theatre that is sure to entertain and delight.
The mission of Opera Queensland is to enrich the lives of Australians by providing a diversity of opera and music theatre of excellence accessible in every way to the widest audience, while contributing to the development of the artists. In 2009, five Young Artists (YAPs) and three Developing Artists (DAPs) will participate in the 32-week program. As part of their training, the artists will work with many distinguished local, interstate and international guest tutors in individual coaching sessions, classes, masterclasses, recitals and workshops.
These activities encompass the highest level of tuition
available in operatic disciplines such as language,
vocal technique, musical style and context, movement,
drama and stagecraft, in preparation for taking their
careers to the next level in Australia or overseas.
They will also be given performance opportunities
in opera and concert presentations.
